Google Ads ValueTrack final URL suffix

Dynamic click-time values for campaign ID, ad group ID, keyword, match type, and device. Paste into the Final URL suffix field, not the Tracking template field.

utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign={campaignid}&utm_term={keyword}&utm_content={adgroupid}-{matchtype}-{device}

The braces must stay intact for Google Ads to replace the tokens. Campaign and ad group values are IDs, not names.

Track clicks without losing the bigger picture

Keep Google Ads auto-tagging enabled alongside your UTM convention, then test your final URL in Google Ads. UTMs label traffic; they do not fix conversion setup or wasted spend. If your reporting looks off, a free Google Ads audit can help you review the account behind the clicks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are UTM parameters?

UTM parameters are tags appended to a destination URL so analytics tools can identify where a visitor came from. Source and medium describe the channel; campaign, term, and content help distinguish initiatives, keywords, and ads.

What is a ValueTrack template?

ValueTrack is Google Ads' system of placeholders such as {campaignid}, {keyword}, and {device}. Google replaces them with click-specific values when an ad is clicked. A final URL suffix is one way to attach these placeholders to your landing page URL.

Where do I paste the tracking template in Google Ads?

Copy the final URL suffix into the Final URL suffix field under URL options at the account, campaign, ad group, or ad level in Google Ads. Do not include a leading question mark. A suffix is different from the Tracking template field, which requires a landing-page placeholder such as {lpurl}. Test the resulting URL in Google Ads before publishing.

Do UTMs affect my ad performance?

UTMs do not change bids or targeting. They label clicks for reporting, but a broken destination URL can prevent visitors from reaching your page. Keep Google Ads auto-tagging enabled for Google Ads reporting and test your final URLs after adding tags.
